June 22nd, 2009: The final audio mixing session for the Deafening Silence of a Very Bright Light has been scheduled for July 1st. After that, the movie will be done. More information to come soon. November 21st, 2008: I’m really sad to learn that the Pioneer Theater is closing. I’ll always have a soft spot for the Pioneer because, back in 2005, they ran a retrospective of my shorts. It was a lot of fun. There was a ton of press surrounding the event, and the NY Post ran a full-page interview with me that featured a big photo still from Virginal Young Blondes. And pretty much all of the writeups (in publications like Flavorpill and Time Out NY) were positive, which was cool. When the big day came, I’ll never forget pulling up to the corner in a cab with Jen Hanks and seeing my name on the marquee. Slightly embarrassing, but cool. Lots of friends came, and the place was packed. I just figured the theater would be empty save for a few relations. But that wasn’t the case. You can see photos on this very website. The Pioneer will be missed. They were consistent in supporting independent and up-and-coming filmmakers, and it’s a shame another venue for that kind of work has just been shuttered. October 29th, 2008: Scene 05 of the Deafening Silence of a Very Bright Light has been added. Click below to watch it. Also, I think the movie's going to be 100% done sometime soon. I'm getting there, trust me. |
